Religious Education Program (Grades 7-11)
Michael Lescault, Ph.D., Director of Religious Education, Grades 7 - 11

The Religious Education program for grades 7 through 11 focuses on providing the adolescent and young adult members of our parish with a deeper and more mature understanding and experience of our Catholic faith.

The curriculum is intended to invite students to develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church, culminating in their celebration of the sacrament of Confirmation, representing their full initiation into the life of the Trinity and the faith community.

Grade Seven focuses on Christology, the meaning and message of Jesus Christ for the Church, the world, and each of us personally.

Grade Eight provides the student with an overview of the essential elements of Catholic faith. The creed, the prayer and worship of the faith community, especially the sacraments, as well as personal prayer, and Christian morality are studied.

Grade Nine provides the student with an in-depth study of the Sacred Scriptures. Students are invited to hear and respond to God’s Word.

Grade Ten is devoted to preparing students for reception of the sacrament of Confirmation. In addition to class work, students participate in monthly liturgies, service projects, and a Confirmation retreat. These components are intended to prepare students to take their place as full and responsible members of our faith community.

Grade Eleven students receive the sacrament of Confirmation. In the fall they continue their preparation, participate in a retreat and attend rehearsals.
