Religious Education Program (Grades K-6)
Susan Foohey, Director of Religious Education, K-6

Our Religious Education (faith formation) program here at Saint Joseph Parish is committed to helping the youth of our Parish reflect on and deepen their Catholic faith and relationship with God.

Students acquire knowledge of the doctrine, dogma and tradition of our Catholic Church. Students engage in reading and unpacking scripture. Prayerful opportunities are sprinkled throughout the curriculum. Strong and thorough preparation for the sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation are offered. As part of their Religious Education, students, with families, are expected to participate regularly in weekend Eucharist.

Religious Education, simply stated, is coming to an intimate relationship with God by means of the head, heart and hands. Knowledge allows the mind to know God through the intellect and information. The heart allows youngsters to develop this intimate relationship through prayer, experience, reflection and contemplation. The hands are guided to serve others through learned knowledge and love of God and to increase one’s knowledge and love of God as well.

While the above outlines our formal Religious Education Program, we recognize you, as parents/guardians, as being the primary educators of faith for your youngsters. Our goal is to encourage and support you in this role in any manner that we are able. Please let us know what we can do for you.
